RESOLUTION

 

IN OPPOSITION OF CLOSING

ILLINOIS SATE PARKS AND HISTORIC SITES

     WHEREAS, Illinois State Parks and Historical sites provide

Recreation and education opportunities to residents of the State of Illinois

 

      WHEREAS, Illinois State Parks and Historical sites are an internal

part of our area’s economy, providing jobs and purchasing goods and

services from numerous local businesses; and

 

       WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR)

 and Governor Rod R. Blagojevich’s administration has announced THEIR

 intentions to close 11 State Parks and various Historic sites including

 the Hennepin Canal Parkway, which would result in the loss of

 recreation and education opportunities, and have a negative economic

 effect on the Municipalities and Counties near where the Parks and

 Historic sites are located.

 

         NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of ____________

  opposes the State of Illinois plan to close Illinois State Parks and

  Historic sites; and

 

          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of _____________ calls on

   the Illinois General Assembly to pass legislation and adopt a budget that

   maintains the full operation of the Illinois State Parks and Historic sites.

 

           BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be sent to

    Governor Blagojevich, and the Illinois General Assembly Leaders in the

    vicinity of these Illinois State Parks and Historic sites.
